June 18, 2025The 2nd Serenade Training School, held from May 26 to 30, 2025, in Zaragoza, Spain, brought together students and researchers from the SERENADE project for an intensive week of theoretical and practical training in food science, sensors, and materials. The programme began on Monday with a welcome session at the University of Zaragoza, followed by presentations from research groups and sessions on microbiology, gas sensors (MOS), and innovative materials, concluding with a group dinner and city tour.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, participants took part in hands-on workshops in laboratories focused on fruits and vegetables, microbiology, and metagenomics, coordinated by academic experts. Thursday was dedicated to the analysis of volatile compounds, with experimental sessions held in specialised laboratories.
On Friday, the event moved to the BSH Home Appliances facilities, where attendees received lectures on integrating user experience into project development, participated in team-building activities, and explored collaboration opportunities among doctoral candidates (DCs). The programme concluded on Saturday with a social excursion to the Monasterio de Piedra, encouraging cultural exchange and group cohesion.
Overall, the event successfully combined advanced technical training, site visits, interactive activities, and networking opportunities in an international setting.
