SERENADE 3rd Training School – Padua, 22–26 September 2025
August 27, 2025On 8 September 2025, the SERENADE consortium welcomed its External Advisory Board (EAB) for the first time. This milestone meeting brought together leading experts from academia and industry to review the project’s progress and provide strategic guidance.
SERENADE aims to reduce food waste by developing smart, sustainable food containers and a handheld food freshness analyzer, combining sensor technology, eco-friendly materials, and advanced modelling.
During the meeting, the consortium presented key achievements in three technical pillars:
- Food (WP2): Progress in predicting food quality and shelf life using VOCs.
- Sensors (WP3): Development of MOS sensor systems and AI models for freshness detection.
- Materials (WP4): Innovations in compostable PLA-based containers and recycling technologies for food-grade plastics.
The EAB provided valuable recommendations on experimental design, sensor validation, and material performance, reinforcing SERENADE’s commitment to scientific excellence and societal impact.
The next EAB meeting is planned for the beginning of 2026. Stay tuned for more updates as SERENADE continues to advance towards smarter, greener food storage solutions.
