How can we know if food is still fresh before spoilage becomes visible?
June 19, 2026Our PhD candidate in the Serenade Project, Ahmad Farid Ehsan presents his research on advanced recycling technologies aimed at converting end-of-life plastics from household appliances into high-purity materials suitable for food-contact applications.
His work focuses on overcoming one of the main challenges of plastic recycling: the presence of contaminants, additives and potentially hazardous substances that prevent recycled plastics from meeting food safety requirements. To address this, he is exploring dissolution-based recycling processes capable of removing these impurities and recovering high-quality plastics.
By developing innovative recycling solutions, this research contributes to advancing circular economy strategies, reducing plastic waste and creating new opportunities to reintroduce valuable materials into the food packaging sector.
Watch the video to discover how innovation in recycling technologies can help build a more sustainable future for plastics.
