The Strawberry Forecast: How Smart Sensors Are Joining the EU’s Fight Against Food Waste
November 24, 2025The SERENADE project is proud to announce its participation in the upcoming European Bioplastics Conference (EBC25 ), the premier event for the bioplastics industry in Europe, taking place in Brussels from 2–3 December 2025.
Hadi Saniei, one of our Doctoral Candidates, will be presenting a scientific poster titled, ‘Reduced-Energy Processing of PLA/Talc Biocomposites: Comparing In-Mould Crystallisation and IR Annealing.’ His research focuses on developing more energy-efficient methods to produce durable, high-performance biocomposites from PLA (Polylactic Acid). This work is crucial for creating sustainable materials that can withstand real-world use, such as in dishwasher-safe food containers, while minimizing the energy required for their production. The work was conducted jointly with Hadi’s supervisors, Professor Giovanni Lucchetta from the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Padova, and Alberto Marcolongo from our industrial partner, Sirmax SpA.
Presenting at EBC25 is a significant milestone, highlighting the cutting-edge research being conducted within the SERENADE project. We look forward to sharing our findings with the international bioplastics community and contributing to the future of sustainable materials.
